Have you found yourself wearing more loungewear than you did a year ago? What about less business-causal outfits? Have you found yourself owning facemasks in a variety of styles and colors?
For the data visualization assignment, I want to research students' change in fashion choices due to remote learning and the COVID-19 pandemic. In the past year, there has been an increase in people working, learning, and living from home, therefore, wardrobe and outfit choices of students have changed immensely. As an effect of COVID-19, students may be more or less concerned with the appearance of their clothing choices. This could also mean that students are spending more/less money on clothing. Comfortability of clothing has become increasingly more important than it may have once been to most people. Students specifically have gone from very busy, on-the-go lives to learning and maneuvering remotely, which most definitely has its effects on student fashion choices.
To collect data, I will conduct a survey of my own for students to answer. Questions will be specifically be about how their styles of clothing choice have changed. The data that is found from survey answers will be best shown by pie charts or bar charts. This story is newsworthy because it is both relevant and timely to SRU students.
For my video quotes, I will interview students who are learning and working remotely. I will ask them how their own outfit choices have changed during the pandemic and what factors influence those changes.
